LBNL BaBar Group Computing

The LBNL BaBar group has three principal servers, constituing one representative each of the architectures supported by BaBar. The primary goal of the servers is to provide a comfortable environment in which to analyze data and develope software. The servers also provide home directories to most of the group, and also serve babar-related software and data.In addition we have a large number of desktop workstations, PCs, Macs, and Xterms on peoples desks and in common areas. We maintain local copies of a few selected BaBar releases for all these architectures, and provide our own Objectivity server. LBNL is the host for the OSF reference platform (online05) and the OSF build machine (online07), which are owned by SLAC and are used primarily (but not exclusively) by non-LBNL users. All of our servers (will eventually) serve BaBar data. The Data Disks are organized according to Objectivity, Kanga, Ntuple and other data formats. Scratch Disks are also available from the servers and on many local desktop machines. If you need help on some computer issue which isn't described in this page, please consult the FAQ. If that doesn't answer your question, please contact an appropriate expert from the list of experts.
